Music That Helps Us Pray, Feel, and Connect

Music is at the heart of Adat Tikvah.

Sometimes words alone cannot express what we are feeling. Music can help us celebrate, remember, grieve, find hope, and experience prayer in a deeply personal way.

At Adat Tikvah, music is not a performance for an audience. It is part of the way we pray together.

You do not need a beautiful voice. You do not need to know the melody. You do not even have to sing. You may sing along, listen quietly, reflect on the words, or simply allow the music to meet you wherever you are.

Our gatherings include music from a variety of Jewish musicians, cantors, choirs, and composers. Some music may be live, and other pieces may be shared recordings. We choose music not only because it sounds beautiful, but because it helps us feel, understand, remember, and share. And it isn’t a performance. It’s a way of praying together.

Hebrew should never be a barrier. Whenever possible, we include Hebrew, transliteration, and English so you can follow along. Sometimes Rabbi Eric will introduce a piece of music or prayer and explain its meaning or history. Knowing why we sing can make the music feel more personal.

There’s no right way to experience the music. Sing with us, listen, reflect, remember someone you love, or just take a quiet moment. At Adat Tikvah, music isn’t here to perform for you. It’s here to help all of us share something together.
